Social media often minimizes Black voices

Recommendation algorithms on some social media platforms can make it harder for Black creators to get discovered.

Meanwhile, many non-Black influencers use elements of Black culture without acknowledging or crediting the origins.

Social media platforms can even directly undermine Black creators and movements, such as when 7 of the top 10 videos on Facebook about Black Lives Matter contained misinformation about the movement, insulted the victims of police violence, and/or were critical of the movement.

Black creators are amazing

This isn't charity - there are countless talented Black creators who we benefit from.
