We are running out of time to take action against climate change

In early August, the UN released a comprehensive report on climate change stating that the time to act is now. If the world waits any longer to take action against the quickly changing climate and environment, the consequences will be devastating.

But the good news is that there are real, feasible actions that we can take to mitigate climate change, including instituting clean energy standards, investing in clean energy infrastructure, and ending government subsidies for fossil fuel companies.

The US must do its part as a prominent nation and large contributor to climate change by supporting this budget and the bold action proposed.

The infrastructure bill recently passed by Congress does not include enough infrastructure focused on combating climate change

With bipartisan votes, the US Congress passed President Biden's infrastructure plan, which does not include the amount of action against climate change that is necessary. But with the budget, Congress has a chance to support bold climate action.

Budgets do not require 60 votes in the Senate to be approved, as typical bills do because of the filibuster. Instead budgets only need a simple majority of 51 votes. This means a budget with climate action has a real chance of getting approved.

We need to urge our Congress members to support a budget plan with significant investment in climate action.
